Book Review
Broken and Screwed by Tijan
Alexandra's older brother died the night he graduated. That day changed everything for her. No longer was she the party girl. No longer did she care about being popular and no longer was her family the happy unit she always thought existed. The only person who could help her heal is the same person who loved her brother as much as she did, his best friend. She only hopes to keep her entire heart from breaking when Jesse will move on, and she knows he will.
After Ethan died, Jesse excelled at basketball, partying, and girls. He used it all to turn his emotions off, but the irony was that Alex was the only person who could do that for him. She helped him forget, but she was the one person he shouldn't be with because the secrets he knows could shatter everything. They could shatter her.

Spoiler Warning:I must say this story line was compelling and I definitely wanted to uncover the truths to all the secrets lying within the plot. But I wish Tijan had focused more on Alex and Jesse and how tragically perfect or wrong for each other, depending on how you see things. Most of the characters are actually rather annoying, and most characters didn't add anything to the story. Alex and Jesse's relationship started out intriguing got lost in this mess of unnecessary drama. Alex needs Jesse for some odd reason, and Jesse stays away from Alex because her brother (who died) told him to stay away from his sister. Also Alex's parents just leave her all alone? This book just left a bad taste in my mouth; it was a lot of untold secrets and drama with a lot of people who don't have any good qualities to speak of. It's possible this book set up the second book with the cliffhanger ending and such but I just felt frustrated the whole book.
A.B.
